Navara D40 ute update - 550 moves down!
Nissan have had bragging rights in the increasingly pointless "Torquiest Engine" ute war with their 550Nm Navara, but it's only ever been available in the top-spec model for which they wanted a rather tasy $65,000. Yep, for a ute. Now all of a sudden Nissan's changed tune:
- the ST-X 550 has dropped $2k to $63,000 (mere bargain now)
- the 550Nm engine is now available in a cheaper model, the V6 Navara ST-X for a mere $57,000.
What could have caused this change? My guess is the reason wears a blue oval badge and is called the Ranger XLT, available for 470Nm and $55k. So, a little more for a bigger engine...worth it in the eyes of many. But in reality the difference in engine output isn't all that great, and the differentiation between the vehicles is much more than just torque. Still, this is the ute buying market and the manufacturers know what sells - just look at the name of the car, the "ST-X 550", it's got the torque figure built into the label.
Anyway, here's the specs:
V6-engined Dual Cab ST-X 4X4 Navara priced from $56,990 RRP.
Standard equipment on the V6 Navara ST-X includes:
The ST-X 550 continues at the top of the Navara range and is additionally equipped with: It is priced at $62,990 –$2,000 less than the previous ST-X 550 (with the Premium Option package). * the manual mode is hopeless. Personally, I'd flick the ST-X 550 and do most of the above aftermarket. And there's more improvements further down the range: New Navara 4WD ST Dual Cab The most popular Navara model, the 2012 Navara 4WD ST Dual Cab 4X4 now has: This shows that the ute market is competitive, and that's a good thing. Let's see how the others react now. Related links
